Our Child Sponsorship program

Both groups to date, have been involved in a Child Sponsorship program, and at present there is approximately 300 children being sponsored. WHY United's aim is to bring hope to these children, their families and the community. Each child receives, school uniforms, school supplies, mattresses, mosquitos nets, food, solar lamps and have an annual medical check up.  They will also be signed up for a medical insurance policy, which will entitle both the child and their family to basic medical care.  Each child will also take part in a goat breeding programme, and be encouraged, with the money gained, to provide for their own secondary education.

There is presently a number of children on our waiting list, like Douglas and Michael, who are in desperate need of a sponsor.  We are working closely with community committees, and the child welfare officer in the villages.  These children really need help so that they can continue with their education.  Many of them come from one parent families, and try to earn a living from small subsistance farms, but as the rains have not come again for a second year, then little crops have been harvested.

This child is mal-nourished

Michael is an orphan, being raised by an elderly grandmother.  He is mal-nourished at the moment, and the family are finding it difficult to live from the proceeds of their small farm, due to the lack of rain.
